Accused: A WEEK News-25 Investigative Series about Medically-Based Wrongful Allegations of Abuse

WEEK News-25 Caitlin Knute produced an IL Associated Press award-winning two-part series on medically-based wrongful allegations of abuse in Central Illinois. The series highlighted the mission of the Family Justice Resource Center.


The first segment of the series aired on October 30, 2018 and featured interviews with FJRC board member Tara Crady and her husband, who experienced a 693-day investigation due to the misdiagnosis of abuse.

The second segment aired on October 31, 2018 and featured interviews with FJRC Executive Director Michelle Weidner and Richard Britts, a Springfield dad who sat in jail for two years before being acquitted for a wrongful allegation of abuse.
